Diamond State Regatta '09 Results

DSM-Medal-NewMIDDLETOWN, DE July 26, 2009 - The Virginia Boat Club competed in this year's Diamond State Masters Regatta held on the beautiful Noxontown Pond on the campus of St. Andrew's School.  The regatta is one of the largest single day masters regatta in North America with over 72 clubs participating from 22 states.

DSCN0034VBC posted strong results with top finishes in each event the club participated in.  Jen Harper and Shannon Conner had a 1st place finish in the Womens 2x A/B (4:16.4).  Following that win, Jen and Barb Faurot placed second in the Womens Lightweight 2x C (4:20.2).

In the single sculls events, Shannon placed 2nd (4:35.8) followed closely by Jen (4:38.2) for the 3rd place in the Womens Lightweight A/B.  Barb Faurot placed 2nd (5:06.6) in the Womens Lightweight C/D event.

Shannon, Barb and Jen at Diamond State RegattaThe VBC men made a strong showing as well.  In the Mens 4+ C event, VBC posted a 2nd place finish (3:47.8).  The 4+ consisted of Jason Rife (s), Steve Chilmaid, Steve Abbot, and John Belcher.  In the Mens 2x C event, Steve Abbot and Steve Chilmaid chalked up a 4th place finish (3:46.0).
