Wye Island Victory!

DSCN0504WYE ISLAND, MD  September 12, 2009 - Shannon Conner and Barb Faurot from the Virginia Boat Club competed in this year's 17th Annual Wyle Island Regatta.  The two took 1st place in the Womens 2x in their age category with a time of 1:37:06.38.

The 12.5 mile race starts at Wye Landing on the Wye East River, 18 miles southeast of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Maryland's Eastern Shore and continues around Wye Island. The course is over sheltered estuaries with minimum boat traffic and great scenery.  It is open to all person-powered boats, including shells (sweep/ scull, racing/ recreational) canoes, outriggers, kayaks, gigs, dories, etc.
